Panel: Top Computational Visualization R&D Problems 2015

In any discipline of science and technology, it is imperative to reflect the current state of the field by defining the top open problems; this process continuously encourages researchers and practitioners to engage further in their research and developments. Computational visualization is indeed no exception. The top ten visualization problems suggested by B. Hibbard in 1999 were reconsidered by C. Johnson, and the expanded list of fifteen problems in 2004 has been frequently cited as one of the key milestones for our visualization R&D over the past decade. During his presentation at the Dagstuhl Seminar on Scientific Visualization in 2014, Johnson also emphasized the urgent need for an up-to-date list. Accordingly, this two-hour panel is designed to serve as a follow-up to his Visualization Viewpoint article in 2004.
