Data-specific visualization makes the data more valuable. How to get data is totally different from how to visualize the data, but these two tend to be mixed up as similar things especially when simulation is the method for getting data. “UT-Heart” is the good example. It is a heart simulator using super computers and is still being developed by researchers at The University of Tokyo. The visualization movie won Best Visualization or Simulation at SIGGRAPH 2015 Computer Animation Festival, but the simulated data itself is just data. I will talk importance and difficulty of data-specific visualization through the making process of injecting a new life to the excellent simulation data, “UT-Heart”.
