  • Full Documentation Submission & Application Provision of Letter of Guarantor and Company Registry is subject to approval. Application Fee: JPY 15,000 per person + JPY 3,000 per postage
  • To Receive Original Invitation Letter Handling Fee: JPY 2,000 per person + JPY 3,000 per postage
  • To Receive Electronic PDF Invitation Letter Please login to the registration portal, go to the “Resource/Letter” page to download your e-Invitation Letter.

A Letter of Guarantee and a certified copy of our Company Register will not be provided if travel expenses are not covered by SIGGRAPH Asia or Koelnmesse.

Kindly note that SIGGRAPH Asia is not authorized to assist with the visa process beyond providing an Invitation Letter issued by the organizing committee.

Should your visa application be denied, SIGGRAPH Asia cannot change the decision of the Japanese Ministry of Foreign Affairs (MOFA), neither will SIGGRAPH Asia engage in any discussions or correspondences with the MOFA or the Embassy of Japan on behalf of the applicant. The participation fees cannot be refunded when the visa application of the individual is denied.

1. Do I need a visa to enter Japan?

2. How long does visa processing take?

Normally, a visa can be issued within 5 to 7 working days if all the requirements are met. There are, however, cases where referral to the government office in Japan is necessary. Such referral cases may take up to 2 months for results. Therefore, we recommend that you plan your trip early to avoid inconvenience of delay.

3. How do I apply for a visa? Is it necessary to go to the Japanese Embassy / Consulate General by myself to apply for a visa?

There are three ways to apply for a visa:

  1. The visa applicant goes directly to the Japanese Embassy / Consulate General in your area;
  2. The visa applicant writes a Letter of Proxy and gets a proxy to go to the Japanese Embassy / Consulate General in his/her place; and
  3. The visa applicant uses an accredited travel agent approved by the Japanese Embassy / Consulate General. However, depending on the circumstances in your country and region, there are cases that the documents should only be submitted by the applicant him/herself going to the Japanese Embassy/Consulate, or through an accredited travel agent, or by mail. Check with the embassy or consulate to which you plan to apply before making the application.

6. How can I get an official invitation letter for my visa application?

If you are a registered attendee of SIGGRAPH Asia 2015, please login to the registration portal; go to the 'Resource/Letter' section and click 'Send Visa Invitation Letter'.
